Glen MacGillivray

Glen is a serial entrepreneur, having owned and operated companies with activities ranging from neutron radiographic inspection of jet-engine turbine blades through landscaping and property maintenance to solar power. Glen is President of Glenergy, provider of outdoor recreational items, solar systems, and education in the field of clean energy.

Glen did graduate work at McMaster University in metallurgy and was a group leader at Atomic Energy of Canada doing advanced nuclear fuel development. He formed Glenergy in 2001 with an initial product called the Edulight—a solar-charged LED reading light for the developing world.  Through Rotary International he became a strong advocate for consumer microcredit, which he saw early on as a critical piece of the puzzle in deploying solar lights to replace kerosene and candles. Glen has travelled extensively throughout Africa and the rest of world.  He has visited over 80 countries and pays taxes in 5. Glenergy lights can be found in over 50 countries.
