Founder & CEO of NewLight Africa, Steve Andrews was born in Zimbabwe and has spent much of his life in Africa. Since 2010 Steve has been hard at work bringing life-enhancing products to rural people across the Continent.
Former CEO of SolarAid and its social enterprise, SunnyMoney, Steve led the development of SunnyMoney from a small project within SolarAid to a fully functioning company selling 75,000 solar lights per month. By the time he left, SunnyMoney was the biggest last mile seller of solar lights on the African continent, having sold 1.3m lights in the previous 3 years. In 2014, Steve won the outstanding individual award in the Solar International Awards for his work with SunnyMoney. Prior to joining SolarAid/SunnyMoney, Steve successfully built and sold Whitewater, a direct marketing agency in London. Steve studied a BSc in Management Science at Loughborough University and prior to this, lived and worked in Sudan as a volunteer teacher when he was 18. Steve is happily married with three children.
